Growing up in an underprivileged neighborhood, Captain Pacheco was captivated by airplanes overhead. He joined the Navy at 18, earned a B.S. in Meteorology at CUNY, and won his Navy Gold Wings before flying international routes as a FedEx captain.
Co-authored with his daughter Nicole, Traffic brings together Captain Pacheco’s real-world aviation experience and Nicole’s passion for storytelling. Together they created a high-flying adventure that inspires young readers to dream big and reach for the skies.

The first light of dawn was just kissing the tarmac of San Diego International Airport as Nicole settled into her chair. Before her stretched a vast array of glowing radar screens and communication panels — a symphony of blinking lights and soft electronic hums.
