About the book

From glowing control towers to roaring fighter jets soaring through busy skies — Traffic follows Nicole, a sharp air traffic controller guiding Navy pilots and commercial flights, alongside Lieutenant Jose Rojas and Captain Andy Deamas: two very different pilots, one emergency, 30,000 feet in the air.
Inspired by real aviation careers, it shows how teamwork between controllers, military pilots, and airline crews keeps the skies safe. Perfect for middle schoolers who love action, STEM, or just cool jets.
Inside the book

An excerpt from Chapter One
The first light of dawn was just kissing the tarmac of San Diego International Airport as Nicole settled into her chair. Before her stretched a vast array of glowing radar screens and communication panels — a symphony of blinking lights and soft electronic hums.
“San Diego Tower, Americana 445 heavy, holding short of Runway 27, ready for departure.” Nicole’s voice was calm and authoritative. “Americana 445 heavy, San Diego Tower, Runway 27 cleared for takeoff. Wind 270 degrees at 8 knots.”
She loved this ballet of metal and humanity. But the sky is an unpredictable stage — and the first challenge arrived not with a shout, but with a silence.
